X-6748 Red Lead Replacement Primer

COLOR(S): Red-Orange.

PRODUCT TYPE: Rust-inhibitive Primer.

DESCRIPTION: A high-quality rust-inhibitive metal primer for structural steel and general maintenance use. Will tolerate light rust on a surface and provide excellent adhesion to a prepared surface.

Intended Use: Bond coat for structural steel and other ferrous metal surfaces, marine industry as a primer for wood or metal surfaces, a marine caulking for wood.

VISCOSITY: 75-80 k.u.

DRY TO TOUCH: 1 hour

WEIGHT SOLIDS: 70-72%

TACK FREE: 4 hours

VOLUME SOLIDS: 45-47%

TIME TO RECOAT: 24 hours

WEIGHT PER GALLON: 12.60 lbs. per gal.

DRY HARD: 4 hours

V.O.C.: 432 grams per liter

FLASH POINT: 103° F.

PACKAGING: 1 quart, 1 or 5 gallon containers

PRACTICAL COVERAGE: Approximately 300-400 square feet per gallon at 2.0 mils dry film thickness.

SURFACE PREPARATION: Metal surfaces must be cleaned free of dirt, dust, chemical deposits, heavy mill scale, rust, grease, oil, wax or other foreign substances including oil paint in poor condition. Scraping, sanding, wire-brushing, grinding, chipping or sandblasting may be required. Remove oil and grease with solvents such as mineral spirits or xylol in compliance with SSPC-SP1-63 Solvent Cleaning.

 APPLICATION: Brush, roller, airless or conventional spray.

 THINNING: Thin if necessary with Farwest #602 Mineral Spirits.

CLEAN-UP: Tools and equipment may be cleaned with Farwest #602 Mineral Spirits or Farwest #605 Synthetic Thinner.
